Home Resort was built and founded from the desire to bring enjoyment to all aspects of one’s home. As the expenses of travel, and even the day to day grow with each season, Home Resort Construction Corp. continues to affirm their goal to help every Canadian come home from a long day to an oasis where they can kick back and relax with their family and friends.
Whether it’s a complete renovation or simply replacing some tile, the team applies the same values of elegance and practicality to every project. At Home Resort, the story is simple: everyone, no matter their budget, deserves to love where they live.
At the outset of the project, the Home Resort team was uncertain the precise brand message to convey. To position the brand correctly, we started with and then moved outwards from their business goals. Home Resort should be the first choice for affordable, resort style luxury for all homeowners in the Lower Mainland.
The primary concept explored was the relationship between playfulness and luxury; surely no one would want to live in a world in which the two were mutually exclusive. With this in mind, we targeted the brand to the sweet spot in the middle; luxurious enough to espouse splendour while maintaining a sense of fun.
We selected navy blue and teal as the primary brand colours to represent both ends of this spectrum. The colours compliment and ground each other in a harmonious relationship. This is also represented in the wave pattern present throughout the site; the flowing graphic brings a sense of movement and playfulness to the brand. The brand's secondary colours represent Home Resort’s expertise: blue evokes the team's high quality water installations, green connects their commitment to outdoor living, and finally silver grounds the brand to their indoor renovations.
For typography, Unica One was selected as the headers and highlights. The Catamaran typeface is made use of for body copy. These typefaces pair well to create a luxurious, yet playful aesthetic in a tasteful manner.
We were also presented the opportunity refresh the Home Resort logo. This was a great opportunity to employ matching graphic elements through the logo and website, fostering consistency and professionalism throughout the brand.
The parameters of Home Resort's new website were simple: straightforward and clean, while demonstrating and displaying the great variety of their work.
After designing the mockups and gaining approval from the Home Resort team, I collaborated with the LinuxMagic development team to execute the site. We implemented a modular grid system for efficient maintenance and content adjustments, allowing the client to easily grow the site on their own well into the future.
